Today, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia released the program for the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference (PA2022) which will be held at the Sofitel Brisbane over 28-29 October 2022.

The National President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Professor Trent Twomey, said that the program focuses on wellness and wellbeing and includes sessions on product knowledge, management and operations, industry updates, and motivational content to inspire pharmacy assistants.

“In response to an extended period of uncertainty, fear, lockdown and disruption, the PA2022 program shines a spotlight on wellness and wellbeing for pharmacy assistants and includes sessions on managing stress and building practical resilience,” Professor Twomey said.

“Product knowledge sessions will focus on eczema, incontinence, diabetes, sensitive skin and eye health, while the management and operations stream will focus on in-store promotions, digital healthcare journeys and how to engage staff to be better sellers.”

“Pharmacy assistants will also feel inspired hearing from Olympian Steven Bradbury as he shares his unique story of triumph over adversity as a speed skater,” Professor Twomey said.

In addition to education, PA2022 is an opportunity for pharmacy assistants to access valuable networking opportunities with peers, industry experts and suppliers during the event’s trade exhibition and two social functions, the Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner.

“Most importantly, Conference Dinner attendees will have front row seats for the announcement of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year. This will be the first time in two years that the winner has been announced in person,” Professor Twomey said.

PA2022 is offering an early bird registration for the first time in the event’s history, whereby pharmacy assistants who register before Thursday 1 September 2022 will save $65. Pharmacies which register two or more staff will also receive a free APP2023 registration valued at over $1,000.

Those wanting to take advantage of early bird pricing can do so confidently with the event’s COVID-19 Refund Guarantee.

“If attendees cannot travel to PA2022 due to COVID-19 restrictions or orders to self-isolate they will have the choice to get a full refund or transfer their registration to another delegate,” Professor Twomey said.
