Closing dates for nominations for the most renowned award for pharmacy assistants in Australia

are quickly approaching, with third-party nominations closing this Friday, 2 July and self-nominations closing on 16 July.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award, or PATY as it is affectionately known, is open to all Australian pharmacy assistants with a minimum of two years of industry experience.

Chris Owen, Acting President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s Queensland Branch, said that with $10,000 worth of prizes available for the national winner plus additional prizes for the state winners, the award is well worth entering.

“The prizes for PATY are a huge draw,” said Mr Owen. “The national winner receives a cash prize of $5,000, a customised training package, and travel to this year’s Pharmacy Assistant National Conference (PA2021) and next year’s Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference (APP).”

“State winners also receive travel to PA2021, plus the top ten finalists in each state are invited to participate in state workshops, providing professional development opportunities for participants.”

“This is a great opportunity for pharmacists, pharmacy owners or other pharmacy staff to nominate an outstanding pharmacy assistant,” said Mr Owen.

“The nomination process is very straightforward and can be completed online very quickly,” said Mr Owen.

In addition to the main award, PATY also features the Glucojel Super Star Award, which recognises outstanding customer service amongst the PATY state finalists.
