With just over six weeks to go until the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference (PA Conference) in Brisbane on 28-29 October, pharmacies and pharmacy assistants are encouraged to register for the conference and book their accommodation and travel as soon as possible.

With the PA Conference returning after two years’ postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic, a key highlight for delegates will be the 30-stand trade exhibition.

Pharmacy industry organisations from across the country will be converging in Brisbane for the PA Conference. Conference sessions provide a traditional educational opportunity for pharmacy assistants, but so too does the trade exhibition, which provides delegates an informal and welcoming opportunity to speak face-to-face with suppliers about the latest innovation in products and services.

With pharmacy assistants typically the first point of contact for patients visiting a pharmacy, the need to gain expert knowledge about the latest products and what is suitable for the patient is paramount for pharmacy assistants.

In order to support this product knowledge education for pharmacy assistants, entry to the PA Conference trade exhibition on Friday and Saturday is free.

For pharmacy assistants also wanting to access the education program, new registration packages are available. Developed to support the current workforce shortages across community pharmacy, pharmacy assistants now have the selection of full registration, day registration, afternoon sessions only or coupled with the evening’s social program.

With APP2023 registrations now open, pharmacies are also encouraged to take up the offer of a free APP2023 registration, valued at over $1,000, by registering two or more staff to attend PA Conference.

The PA Conference is an annual event that offers a two-day educational program, trade exhibition, networking opportunities and exciting social functions, as well as the announcement of the 2022 Pharmacy Assistant of the Year award winner.

The PA Conference is a unique opportunity for community pharmacies to recognise pharmacy assistants’ increased workload and capacity over the past two years of the coronavirus pandemic and reward them with professional development and networking opportunities.
